Think Pubs - Think Tasker!
A Tale of Three black Swans and a Ship - March 2001.
Tasker
& Co., 'The Licensed Property People in the North', report more successful
sales. At the end of February they completed on the sale of The Ship Inn
on Holy Island to Pauline & Frank Gregory on behalf of Peter & Lynda Goldsborough
from an asking price of £325,000. The next day Jennings Brothers, the
cask ale brewers from Cockermouth, completed their purchase of The Black
Swan in Belford from Clients of Taskers. Taskers had been marketing that
one at around £275,000. It was the second pub that Jennings had bought
through Taskers in 6 months, having purchased The Kings Head in Allendale,
offered at £265,000, last September. Curiously The Black Swan at Belford
was the third Black Swan in Northumberland that Tasker & Co. had sold
in six months! In September last year Mr Gill Chambers acquired The Black
Swan at Seahouses from Mr & Mrs Billy Gillholme off an asking price of
£245,000. Then at the turn of the year Wessex Taverns took a lease of
The Black Swan in Alnwick negotiated by Taskers from an asking price of
£250,000.
Earlier in
February Taskers were also able to celebrate completion of the sale of
the Pubmaster lease of The Percy Arms
in Tynemouth on behalf of Mick & Elaine Henry off an asking figure of
£100,000. They were particularly pleased with this transaction after the
marketing of the pub had had a false start with another agent. Taskers
say that they believe that their success is down to being a local agent
with local knowledge and, of course, having the same faces applying that
knowledge and experience with personal service to clients year in and
year out.
The celebrations
for these sales also come at the time when Tasker & Co. have launched
their new web site which now contains particulars of many of the pubs
they are offering for sale, as well as useful guidance for those entering
the trade or changing from one form of tenure to another. It can be found
either at www.taskerandco.com or at www.pubsellers.com. The new web site
complements their daily updated colour property list, which Taskers believe
is the only one of its kind in the region, if not throughout the whole
of Northern England.
